Truck Live Tracking with GPS - Made Easy

Whether you have a small, medium, or large fleet, accessing live truck data can be achieved with minimal effort. The digitization of logistics is constantly progressing, bringing with it advancements in truck tracking capabilities. There are already various hardware solutions on the market today to maximize the potential of your truck data. These solutions utilize different systems that you can choose from based on the size of your fleet. However, only a few small companies are fully utilizing the potential of the available systems. In this article, we'll give you an overview of how to get started with truck tracking and show you how to achieve cost-effective entry!

GPS Live Vehicle Tracking

What Data Does GPS Tracking Provide for Trucks?

Depending on the data source, GPS data can include various information such as vehicle position, vehicle speed, and direction of travel. In common telematics systems like BlueLOGICO®, the following GPS data is provided:

  • Timestamp of transmission
  • Points of Interest (POI): Is the vehicle currently at the customer's location? Or at the warehouse? Defining "Points of Interest" allows for immediate recognition of the driver's location, such as arrival at the customer's site.
  • Address & Country
  • Altitude
  • Travel speed
  • Direction of travel
  • Number of satellites

Telematics Box as GPS Tracker

Installing a telematics unit in your vehicles unlocks the full potential of telematics software for your fleet. This means that with suitable software like our BlueLOGICO®, you can centrally control route planning and tracking, real-time calculation of remaining driving times, event systems, and time tracking. In addition to tracking GPS data, installing a telematics unit also allows for reading FMS data.

Of course, telematics units (also known as "RDL boxes") entail both acquisition and installation costs. However, in most cases, the investment pays off as the efficiency of your fleet is significantly increased through the use of this data.

Cost-Effective Entry with the TEOS® App

As an alternative to installation and perfect for getting started with truck tracking, you can use our TEOS® app in combination with BlueLOGICO®. Your drivers simply download the TEOS® app from the Play Store onto their smartphones. We assist you in installing BlueLOGICO® on your PC or Mac and in linking the apps to your system.

This allows you not only to track your trucks live but also to unlock features such as central communication with drivers and route planning.

TEOS® App or Telematics Box?

Whether installing telematics boxes is worthwhile for you or if you'd prefer to start with a cost-effective and simple system without installation and acquisition costs, the graphic below shows the possibilities associated with each option!
