Welcome to "Benefits of Telematics Part 2". In our last post in this series, we discussed the increase in productivity through the use of telematics systems in transport and logistics companies. The rise in productivity could mainly be attributed to five parameters. In today's post, we focus on the economic advantage that can be achieved through the use of a telematics system.

The effective implementation of telematics systems not only aids in fleet management and leads to increased productivity but also brings economic benefits to your company.

The scientific publication "Optimized Dispatch and Telematics Increase Efficiency in the German Road Freight Transport" highlighted the economic benefits of telematics systems. This study analyzed various performance parameters of participating companies before and after the introduction of computer-aided dispatch and/or telematics systems. The results of this study confirm the economic advantage that telematics systems can offer. Consequently, the key data and results are explained:

1. Improved personnel deployment

Through the use of computer-aided dispatch and telematics systems, the revenue of logistics companies can be increased by 7.1%, while the workload of the workforce can be reduced by 0.6% and 27% for dispatchers. Additionally, the analyzed companies employed an average of 1.67 employees per truck and 0.057 dispatchers per truck.

2. More mileage (km) with less fuel (better fuel efficiency)

Furthermore, the authors of the study indicate that logistics companies can save up to 8% on fuel and AdBlue costs through effective planning with a telematics system and integrated driver training.

3. Reduced CO2 emissions through more efficient routes

The aspect of CO2 emissions was also addressed. Through the use of a computer-aided dispatch and telematics system, the analysis showed a reduction in CO2 emissions (kg CO2/km) by 2.1%.

Especially points 1 & 2 have a significant impact on the economic situation of companies in transport and logistics. If you do not yet have a telematics system in place, seize the opportunity and speak with one of our consultants about the benefits that a telematics system can offer for your company.
